Primary Purpose / Regulatory Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of a Project Manager (PM) is to ensure and elevate the level of country operations to realize patient value by transforming company’s strategy into project delivery in Japan.  A PM’s role is to initiate, plan, execute, monitor/control and ultimately close a project to successfully realize the intended benefits in the country. 
PMs will support the project sponsor, who has overall accountability and team leadership for the project. The PM is a standing member of the Regional and Global team meetings, as applicable. 
As part of the project team, PMs are responsible for ensuring project goals and strategies are appropriately framed, scoped and delivered in line with company’s standards and processes, including oversight of the sub-projects, so that company’s governance bodies and stakeholders can make the most informed and timely decisions. 
PMs need to ensure there is strong communication amongst team members and with multiple stakeholders in different regions including external partners, ideally managed through a comprehensive communications plan. Effective project communication and managing the culture, in line with company’s patient values, is an essential leadership component of the PM’s role in working with cross-functional, diverse teams.
PM assignments can vary in terms of project scope, size and complexity and may also include project management of specific deliverables within the project. PMs act as champions for Project Management techniques and processes, educating colleagues in these areas and sharing best practice across the organization.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Framing Project Goals and Objectives
Ensure and elevate the level of country operations to realize patient value through framing the strategies using Project Management standards and processes. PMs will determine the project requirements based on the  inputs and support with the sponsor and in line with company's Objectives. 

 

Setting Project Planning Baseline
Ensure appropriate project strategies are in place to meet the overall goals including a baseline plan, clear teamwork/organization breakdown structure as per scope, scheduling, requirements prioritization and benefits. 

 

Project Budgeting and Resourcing
Support Project Sponsor to set, oversee and monitor the project budget, with appropriate change controls and probabilization for key project milestones. 

 

Executing Projects
Responsible for the project execution through the team and overseeing projects. This includes managing project performance against company's Objectives messaging with governance bodies. For all projects this includes proactively identifying, troubleshooting and escalating risks and issues, as well as realizing the benefits of project-related opportunities. It also includes use of company's project processes, reporting and technology such as INTEGRATE, Sharepoint and SOURCE. 

 

Measuring Project Performance
Setting and monitoring project quality and performance including KPIs, feedback-based project reviews and transition management in line with company's processes and standards. 

 

Communicating Project Information
Managing project communication, identify the key messages, audiences, interfaces, timings and mechanisms for effective communication at all levels including externally to the project stakeholders. 
Act as main responsible person for country project team lead as needed.

 

Best Practice
Drive best in industry practices by contributing lessons learned, challenges, solutions and involvement in process improvement projects.
Participate in company's Project management Community activities.

 

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION

 

Education Level : Bachelor's Degree,

                Other : Post Graduate Qualification in Relevant Discipline Preferred e.g. MSc, PhD, MBA.

 

Other Certification :

Project Management Certification or Qualification Preferred (e.g. PMP, APM, Prince 2, Agile etc)

 

Experience :

At least 3 years experience in a Project Management Role, or related function, ideally within Pharmaceutical Industry

5+ years industry experience and postgraduate qualification preferred.

Experience of working with global, multi-cultural, diverse teams, with demanding timelines and complex deliverables are preferred.

For Asset PMs, experience with working in cross-functional teams focused on the research, development and commercialization of a product, including Regulatory Affairs, Safety, Medical Affairs, Manufacturing and Access.
