SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for establishing and enhancing business relationships with clients in Japan, by having phone discussions in the client’s time-zone, occasional face-to-face meetings at client sites and working closely with the local Account Management, Project Support Management, Regional Field Technology Management and Regional Marketing teams, to name just a few.

Responsible for project management of assigned client accounts ensuring that projects meet timelines and all specifications of the project are fulfilled.  The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for engaging with a facility-based PMO (located in UK, US and Singapore) to ensure that project teams are established and coordinated.  The PM utilizes Project Management methodologies and interpersonal skills in all phases of low to high complexity projects. 

Manages client accounts and projects as assigned, ensuring clients are successfully engaged in BioReliance systems and processes.

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The PM is responsible for a number of projects within a single division including low to high complexity projects.  If any project is part of a larger program, the PM is responsible for ensuring information is shared with the Program Manager where applicable and the project proceeds to meet the timelines and specifications of the program.  PM are responsible for establishing and directing project teams within their own division. 

As a member of the commercial team interacting directly with clients in Japan, the country-based PM plays a role in establishing, maintaining and solidifying the business relationships with clients. 

PM has responsibility for initiating client discussions to re-confirm project specifications set out by the Account Manager. PM establishes project schedule, communicates effectively with all stakeholders, and maintains a centralized file of key milestones and historical information. They are accountable for the accurate assembly, analysis and reporting of metrics around client service, quality and communication, both internally and externally.

 

CANDIDATE QUALITIFICATIONS

 

Education:

B.S. in Life Sciences; M.S. in the Life Sciences is preferred.

Courses in Project Management are beneficial.

 

Experience:

  • Prior experience managing testing project for pharmaceutical clients in a Pharma & Biopharma Manufacturing & Testing Services company would be highly preferred. Experience working in a CMO/CDMO setup where there is a need to manage external pharmaceutical clients would also be ideal.
  • Relevant experience in the Life Science industries working with pharmaceutical clients could also be considered.
  • Experience in verbal and written communication with clients in Japanese language and cultural setting. (MUST)
  • Greater than 5 years of client facing experience (MUST)
  • Experience in hosting multi-site conference calls across continents. (nice to have)
  • Experience in Project Management, in particular running scientific projects. (nice to have)
  • 4-6 years’ experience in a job where good verbal and written communication skills were required. (MUST)

 

Knowledge and Skills:                                                                         

  • Native or fluent in Japanese language skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (TOEIC: 800 and above or equivalent)
  • Translation and interpretation skills between the Japanese language and English
  • Effective in dealing directly with clients, internal operational teams, and commercial colleagues at UK, US and APAC sites
  • A proactive approach to all aspects of customer service
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to exercise good judgment
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is necessary
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft PowerPoint is preferable but not required
